Outcome of the August 16, 2007 Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners Hearing

On August 16, 2007, a public hearing was held before the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners. At that hearing, our proposed Text Amendment to the Future Land Use Plan was presented and approved.

What was approved was an amendment to the Future Land Use Plan that would allow a Hillsborough County landowner who wants to build an adoption/child care community on agricultural land to do so with certain restrictions. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • There must be a minimum of 50 acres of available land.
  • No more than one residence per gross acre can be built.
  • A 150 foot buffer must be allowed on all sides of the community.

Our proposed Text Amendment must now be reviewed and approved by the State Department of Consumer Affairs (Tallahassee). The results of this process will be announced at the December 13, 2007 Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners Hearing.
